I’m Susan “PoshMama” Coghlan, a single mom and widow who lives in Columbia, MD with two teenagers, three dogs, and oodles of manageable chaos. I have a professional background in event planning, marketing communications, and graphic design and can seriously get lost in the details of anything that fires up my imagination. I left my life in corporate America when my daughter was born in 2003 and was a stay-at-home mom for nearly 10 years. I loved being home with my children and remain grateful that my late husband provided for us so that I could. Even though staying home with my children when they were young was exactly what I wanted, I missed the creativity of my working days. Thankfully, the internet made it possible for me to find opportunities to use the non-mom parts of my brain and I did freelance writing for a variety of industries, used my basic graphic design and marketing skills to learn how to design WordPress websites, and did what I could to keep the non-mom part of me awake.
I joined Perfectly Posh in January 2015 after discovering the products. As an eternal skeptic who researches most claims of amazingness to death, I tried a gazillion products before I bought anything. Posh uses naturally based ingredients that nourish my skin and is free of the harmful ones that make it skin itch and burn. Since it’s also budget friendly, I was quickly hooked.
Like many women, I put myself last on my priority list for many years. Through Posh, I continue to learn how special I am and how I am enough – every day – just as I am. My definition of “pamper” changed. I feel special and beautiful when I use an amazing smelling hand creme during the day when I want to be anywhere but in the carpool lane or a giant chunk bar with my morning shower. I tried two other Direct Sales businesses that taught me about my strengths, gifts, and challenges with running a business. I could either use those as reasons to justify why I was an unsuccessful business owner or I could use them as motivation to prove to myself that I was capable of so much more than I imagined.
I can. I WILL. Watch me.
My late husband almost refused to allow me to try again. I decided to make this a six month experiment to see if I had it in me to run my own business. At the end of those six months, I had a team of women who relied on me to be their leader. In my first 15 months I earned a trip to St. Thomas; promoted to Gold Premier (the second highest rank in the company)’ and found lifelong friends who lift, build, empower, motivate, and encourage each other EVERY DAY. Through Posh, I am discovering the woman I was created to be and learning how to love and value myself just as I am. It is truly a joy to help others find their value and strength through hand cremes, soaps, lotions, and face masks.
YOU are important. YOU matter. YOU are enough, just as you are! #PoshMamaSaidSo
