If there’s anything I’ve learned about ingredients in my skincare products, it’s why it’s important to use naturally based products. For fresh, radiant skin, I can keep it simple and with sea salt and sugar. I had no idea that these two everyday ingredients are simple keys to renewed and rejuvenated skin.
They make excellent exfoliators to remove dry, dead skin and give me a soft, healthy complexion. I also didn’t understand that scrubbing my skin helps improve circulation and can help me feel healthier inside and out. But, I also need to know when and why using different exfoliants makes the most sense.
Sea salt is more exfoliating and better for the body. It’s full of anti-inflammatory magnesium and other minerals that help detoxify your skin. Plus, if I got salt in my eyes, it would sting horribly! Sugar (or sucrose) is gentler and much better suited to my face and lips. Sugar draws moisture from the air into the skin, and is a natural source of alpha hydroxy acid.
My favorite body scrubs from the Spring/Summer 2016 catalog include We Put de Lime in de Coconut, which is like a margarita in your shower and the ONE product my husband asks for me to buy when he’s running low, and It’s Da Bee’s Knees, which is thick, sticky, and gives one of the most moisturizing and exfoliating experiences ever. And our lip scrubs? I seriously want to eat them with a spoon! I may or may not accidentally use too much so I can lick off the excess. Oops!
